Frequently asked questions
How does DocuFix match the original font?
It reads the font information inside the PDF and maps it to a metric-compatible font such as an Arial, Times or Courier style. Unusual custom fonts are matched to the closest style, so the result is similar but not always identical.
Can I edit a scanned PDF?
A scan is a picture, so there is no text to select. You can still cover an area with Area Patch and then place new text over it with Add Text.
Is the old text really removed?
In the default export the replaced text is covered, and the original text can still exist underneath it in the file. If it must be gone for good, export with Flatten pages.
Is DocuFix Studio really free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no sign-up, no watermark added by us and no page limit.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Your PDF is opened and edited inside your own browser and is not uploaded anywhere, so confidential documents stay on your device. Only the editing libraries and fonts are downloaded when you first open the page.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The editor is designed for touch screens as well as desktop: pinch to zoom, drag to draw, and install it as an app from your browser menu. It also supports a light and a dark theme.
Can it remove every kind of watermark?
Not always. It works best on watermarks drawn in a consistent colour, such as grey or coloured diagonal text and stamps on a plain background. Watermarks that are part of a photo, or that share the colour of your text, may leave traces and need the Area Patch or Brush tool. Only remove watermarks from documents you own or have permission to edit.
